David Price signs with Red Sox
Seven-year, $217 million deal for left-handed ace
Price expected to be key piece of Red Sox rotation
David Price has signed a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Boston Red Sox, according to multiple reports. The deal includes a $217 million guarantee and is the largest contract ever given to a left-handed pitcher.
Price, 30, is a three-time All-Star and has finished in the top five of the AL Cy Young Award voting in each of the past three seasons. He was 18-9 with a 2.45 ERA last season for the Detroit Tigers.
The Red Sox have been looking for a top-of-the-rotation starter since trading away Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz last season. Price is expected to fill that role and be a key part of the Red Sox's rotation for years to come.
